KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION LETTER

Dear Prospective Kindergarten Parent/Guardian:

The purpose of this letter is to outline the procedure for kindergarten registration in the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District for the school year beginning in September 2018. Below are the 3 steps necessary to complete your child's registration. Children who are five (5) years of age by August 31, 2018 are eligible to enter kindergarten.

Parents/guardians are reminded that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' attendance regulations require that all children who have attained the age of six (6) years must be registered in school. Parents do have the option of not entering their children into kindergarten until they have reached the age of six (6) years.

3 Easy Steps to Register

STEP #1:  Complete the online registration application

Online registration will open on the District website at www.bridge-rayn.org beginning Tuesday, February 6,

2018. Please follow the online directions, complete all necessary information.

 

STEP #2:  Collect required documents (see below) and upload:

  • Original Birth Certificate with raised seal
  • Proof of residency 1: (one of the following)
    • Quitclaim deed (signed & dated)
    • Property card (available on your town’s website – assessor’s database)
    • Lease (signed by all parties & dated)
    • Notarized Letter (if applicable)
  • Proof of residency 2:
    1. oMass. Driver's License or Mass. Identification card with current address

           (to update your address go to www.massrmv.com and print out a copy of the address change)

  • Proof of up-to-date immunizations, physical exam and lead test
  • Custody Documents (if applicable)
  • Individual Education Plan (IEP or 504, if applicable)

 

STEP #3:  Review and Submit your Registration

An Open House will take place in May to provide the parents/guardians with an overview of the kindergarten program. This overview will include bus transportation, health services, special education screening, and the general kindergarten curriculum. The Open House is an informational session for the parents/guardians and is not an event intended for children.

All children entering kindergarten in September 2018 will be screened in June 2018. Each parent/guardian will receive screening information and a specific appointment date during the May Kindergarten Open House. If you plan to enroll your child in private kindergarten, please notify Central Registration at (508) 279-2140 ext. 139 so that we keep our records as accurate as possible. Children attending private kindergarten are encouraged to participate in the screening process as required by law.

In order to provide every child a comfortable transition from home to the school setting, an orientation will be scheduled during the first week of school. You will have the opportunity to meet your child's teacher in a classroom setting.
